I’m Doug Mosurock and I welcome you to Purple Vu. If you read my other newsletter Heathen Disco you might have seen me mention this one in the works. Happy to have you here.
Heathen Disco is focused on new music, but that’s not all I listen to. Would be kinda weird if I did! I do other things too, like watch movies, read books and write about experiences. Purple Vu will feature some of that stuff, but mostly it’s about older music – records I love from the past, reissues, what shakes loose of my crate digging experiences, things I recommend (and otherwise). I’d also like to write about records that other people don’t, like 12” singles and dance music, and things that fell through the cracks. And I will use this space to sell things to you when appropriate, like limited editions of my old writing, the odd record or tape, and some manner of service in my areas of expertise that will be of value.
This may end up being a looser thing than Heathen D, more personal, more spontaneous, and maybe less regimented. I’d like to get a Purple Vu out every week or two, and I welcome you along this journey with me.
Like Heathen Disco, this’ll cost you to read the whole thing. $3 a month, $30 a year. I imagine a subset of folks will want to read both this and Heathen D (I’m fun, and a pretty cheap hang). But I was tired of walking this thing around and not doing anything about it, so here we are. Purplevu.com. Tell your people.
First missive comes out next week, better subscribe now!
Warm Regards – DM
